From bad to worse: Johnson’s harrowing concerns at Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson will get going with his new duties in just under 48 hours with a string of concerns about his line of recent results in domestic football.

Chiefs have a difficult trip to second placed Golden Arrows who will host the game at Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale, which is about 50km inland from Durban.

Firstly, Johnson must stress about turning the fortunes of Chiefs following their slow start off the blocks which have led to Molefi Ntseki losing his job after a disappointing run of results.

Four wins in 13 games was always going to be considered failure at Chiefs regardless of the circumstances worse when only one win was recorded in the last seven.

What is of worry is that Johnson's results in domestic football over his last 13 matches in charge is catastrophic and thin on inspiring by any measure.

Johnson is without a win in his last 13 games in domestic football which were at AmaZulu and Black Leopards.

The veteran coach drew one and lost four during his short stint at Leopards in January 2020.

Then in his previous job at AmaZulu, Johnson was without a win in his last eight games which led to Usuthu releasing him from his contract having been in charge for two years.

Johnson had won once in his last 12 games with Durban.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns head of development suffered defeat in his last encounter in domestic football on January 24, 2020, while calling the shots at Leopards.

Of note is the fact that since Johnson's last stint as head coach in the DStv Premiership, Chiefs have moved from Ernst Middendorp, Gavin Hunt, Stuart Baxter, Arthur Zwane, and Molefi Ntseki.
