The initial report card indicated that he will be out for four to five months, and the positive is that he is back at training and expected to become available for selection before the end of February.
He has so far missed 15 matches but upon his return will give further weight in central midfield, which has Yusuf Maart, Njabulo Blom, Samkelo Zwane, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, and Lehlogonolo Matlou.
Castillo is the most experienced in the two positions in front of the back four and can play further up the pitch as well.
Meanwhile, as the 30-year-old makes his way back, there have been enquiries about his contract situation.
Castillo is into the second year of his two-year deal, which has an optional year.
Chiefs still have the cushion of time on the date upon which they should activate that option.
