Insight on potential Johnson successor at Chiefs

With Kaizer Chiefs' new technical team already assembled, there is a final key role that is yet to be occupied and Kickoff has been informed why they will hire from in-house to replace Cavin Johnson.

Chiefs announced on Monday that they have parted ways with Johnson as Head of Academy and although almost all members of the new technical team were brought in through the recommendation of incoming coach Nasreddine Nabi, the Head of Youth role is set to be occupied by an individual already at the club.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, former Amakhosi head coach Arthur Zwane is the current favourite to replace Johnson as Head of Youth at the Soweto giants.

Zwane has been without an official role at Chiefs since they removed him from his last position as head coach, after he was succeeded by Molefi Ntseki ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

Kickoff has been led to believe that 'Mangethe' did not part ways with the Glamour Boys at the time and remained at the club without an explicitly defined role.

Word reaching this website is that '10111' is seemingly being entrusted and rewarded with the role of Head of Youth for his loyalty and trustworthiness to the club.

"It looks like that role [Head of Academy] is going to Arthur," a reliable source working closely with the club told KickOff.

"Arthur is a nice guy, he doesn't fight, he just listens and keeps quiet. I think because of his attitude and that he is a long servant of Chiefs, they said rather let's give it to him you know.

"From what I can see it looks like he's going to get it. Arthur is a loyal guy. He's the kind of guy when you [authority] tell him something he doesn't sulk, he's not stubborn.

"I think because of that, that's why they said okay let's keep Arthur," the source added.

The Glamour Boys have jetted out to Turkey for their pre-season tour, with the inaugural Toyota pre-season cup set to be officially launched on Monday.
