Bimenyimana tipped to finish as DStv Premiership top-scorer

Kaizer Chiefs sensation Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana has been tipped to beat Peter Shalulile in finishing as the DStv Premiership's top scorer after a prolific start to the season.

The Burundian striker has started off glowingly at Chiefs with six goals in six appearances.

The 24-year-old's six goals have come in the last three league outings, including the hat-trick on Sunday against Stellenbosch.

Shalulile is the reigning top scorer in the DStv Premiership having finished with the most goals in the league over the previous two league campaigns.

"I think he will definitely end the season as the league's top scorer because his team is appreciating what he is adding," says Jimmy Ndayizeye, the Burundi national team coach.

"Remember, the guy is still new at the club and will get even better when he gets familiar with his teammates.

"He is going to get better as his fitness improves because he still needs to get into a space of playing 90 minutes regularly.

"For now, he hasn't been able to play 90 minutes games in a row so imagine what will happen when he eventually comes right in that space.

"Scoring goals has never been a problem for him because even here in Burundi he was the second top scorer here and then became a top scorer just like in Rwanda.

"I have always known that Caleb has the mentality to succeed anywhere he plays and just needs support.

"He is a player who likes to win and wants to be scoring goals.

"That mentality is important in football.

"I'm glad that he has started the new season the way he has done at his new club.

"For us, as Burundians, we are happy that he is representing us well and will come into the national buzzing with confidence which is what we need," says Ndayizeye.

Prior to joining Chiefs, Bimenyimana had last played club football last year in Kazakhstan and keeps the national team options strong.
