Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune's proud standing in domestic football continues to take dents after failing to keep a clean sheet yet again as he made his return to the Soweto derby.
On Saturday, Khune captained Chiefs upon his return for his 28th appearance in this fixture, five years since his last which came in November 2018 in another defeat.

Disappointing was the fact that the veteran goalkeeper was again unable to keep a clean sheet for the tenth consecutive game.
This has been the longest that Khune has gone without keeping a clean sheet in his professional career since making his debut against Jomo Cosmos in 2007.
Chiefs have lost nine out of the last 10 games that Chiefs have played with Chiefs in goals.
In that space, Khune has conceded 15 goals with every opponent that Chiefs have played able to beat him.
It all started in January in the 1-0 defeat to Sekhukhune United which was followed by a 4-0 away massacre at AmaZulu before the 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Khune was then kept either on the bench or in the stands for the next 13 games and upon his return Chiefs lost 2-1 to Moroka Swallows.
After that defeat, the veteran keeper was dropped to the stands for two games and when he came back, AmaKhosi lost 1-0 in the last game of the 2022/23 season.
Into the current (2023/24) season, Khune was brought in for his start against SuperSport United and it ended in a 1-0 defeat.
After sitting on the bench for the win over Sekhukhune United, the former Bafana Bafana international came for yet another 1-0 loss against Cape Town City.
Khune then played in the 1-0 Carling KnockOut Cup defeat to AmaZulu in the Carling Knockout Cup then in the 3-2 win over Cape Town Spurs.

Then Saturday's Soweto derby defeat was game number 10 without a clean sheet with nine ending in defeat.
Khune's last playing contract at Chiefs expires at the end of June 2024.
The 36-year-old has only ever played for Chiefs since making his PSL debut in August 2007, which was three years on from when he was promoted to the senior team after Brian Baloyi left for Mamelodi Sundowns.
