Nabi draws positives from Yanga humiliation

Head coach Nasreddine Nabi has explained why he is not pressing the panic button following Kaizer Chiefs' 4-0 defeat to Tanzanian champions Young Africans.

Chiefs were subjected to a humiliation when a Stephane Aziz Ki brace and further goals from Prince Dube and Clement Mzize saw them hammered 4-0 in front of a sold-out Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday.

Speaking to media after the match, new head coach Nabi said although he was disappointed with the result, he was not too worried and was able to draw positives from the clash.

"Today's [Sunday] match helped me so much. why? Because it gave me an opportunity to know exactly a little bit about my players collectively and individually," Nabi said.

"I am very happy. Not happy to lose the game, I am not happy to lose any game. Even if I don't win at training, I can't be happy because I am a winner and I have a winning mentality," he added.

"I don't accept losing. Let me say I won today, as an example. All people will be saying: 'Chiefs have hit a turnaround' and: 'Oh, Nabi this and that'.

"Today we observed some positive aspects. It's not my problem if people don't know football and don't see [what we gained] today because we lost a friendly match.

"Only people who don't know football won't sleep today and think we failed.

"But I know what was negative today and which are the positives. This is the objective of today's match, okay."

Having finished 10th last season, Amakhosi will not be a part of this season' MTN8 that kicks off on 3 August, only returning to competitive action in mid-September.
