Sheppard: 'The best is yet to come from Bimenyimana and Saile combo'

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Dillon Sheppard on Wednesday insisted the best is yet to come from newly-signed striker combination Caleb Bimenyimana and Christian Saile.

The duo started a match together for the first time during Chiefs' hard-fought 1-0 victory over Richards Bay. Although neither found the back of the net in Amakhosi's last three games, Sheppard believes the best is yet to come from the pair.

"There's an adaption phase with foreigners coming in, getting used to life in Johannesburg, getting used to all your teammates," Sheppard said.

"We've seen glimpses of the quality they bring. Caleb [Bimenyimana], as big as he is, can drop in and play on the turn, he sees the spaces.

"Saile is quick, he's strong, he just has to work a little bit technically when he comes inside to combine [with Bimenyimana] but like I said, as his communication gets better with the players around him you're going to see a lot more.

"Also, they give us speed, they give us a real presence. So, yes I don't think we've seen close to the best of them but it's up to us to give them the opportunity to work every day and get better and better and improve."

With Saile serving a suspension for accumulated yellow cards, the pair will not be able partner up when Amakhosi meet Casric Stars in the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup on Sunday.

The match will be played at FNB Stadium.

Kick-off is at 18:00.
