Motaung Jr speaks: Why we chose Miguel

Kaizer Chiefs' Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr, has shared his first thoughts on the club's signing of Angola international Inacio Miguel, who was announced on Wednesday.

The Soweto giants continued to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign with their fifth addition, Miguel.

The Angolan centre-back was signed from Petro de Luanda, a side that went as far as the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League last season.

Miguel played nine matches in that campaign, and 23 overall.

He is expected to add some continental experience in the heart of the Amakhosi defence.

Speaking to the club's media department, Motaung Jr reveals some of the qualities that convinced the club to pursue the 28-year-old.

"We are happy to have a player of Inacio Miguel's calibre join our team," Motaung Jr said.

"We've watched him and believe his experience, skill and passion for the game embody the spirit of Kaizer Chiefs and will add a lot of positives in the team.

"We believe that he will contribute significantly with his talent and are looking forward to working with him as he writes another chapter of his career in South Africa."

In terms of competition for a starting berth, Miguel will be up against Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Given Msimango, Rushwin Dortley and Edmilson Dove – though the latter could be de-registered by the club as Chiefs still need to free up one foreign spot to be able to register Miguel.

The side's transfer business is understood to not be over as they are still in search of a striker.

Mooted deals for Luther Sigh, Lebo Mothiba and, most recently, Fiston Mayele have so far failed to materialise.
