However, his choice of jersey number has been a peculiar one.

Initially unveiled to wear number 83, the centre-back was spotting donning 84 at the club's media open day on Wednesday morning.

Miguel explained that there had been confusion and that he had opted for jersey number 84 as an honour his grandmother, who passed on at the age of 84.

"I know people saw 83 on my jersey, but it was a confusion. I chose 84," explained the 28-year-old.

"It was a testimony of my grandmother, who unfortunately passed away last year at 84 years old. She raised me and so I decided to make this a testimonial on her. That's why I chose number 84, me and my family."
