Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic has been described as a man that Kaizer Chiefs would have still needed up to now had they not made the mistake of releasing him.
Chiefs chose not to exercise the option of extending Nurkovic's contract at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Nurkovic then endured a difficult 17 months without playing while going through the drama of his time at Royal AM, before landing at TS Galaxy.
The 31-year-old has scored seven goals and sent enough reminders along the way about what Chiefs are missing with their misfiring strikers, who include Ranga Chivaviro, Efmamjjasond Gonzalez and Ashley Du Preez.
"I believe Chiefs made a mistake with Samir," says fellow Serbian Vladislav Heric, who has coached in South Africa for 20 years.
"In football, you must first find a replacement before you release a player.
"Did Chiefs do that?
"I don't think so because since Samir left, I haven't seen a guy who has done better than him.
"This is how football should basically function all over the world.

"If you don't have a better replacement, then rather keep him and seek to make him happy.
"Once you have found a replacement, then you can move him aside.
"What is the point of throwing away the furniture in your house when you haven't found a better option?
"Samir is now playing for a club with lesser resources but is scoring goals better than those who are strikers at Chiefs.

"This proves my point that Chiefs made a terrible mistake with their decision.
"I don't know what informed their decision to let Samir leave.
"Imagine if Samir is there at Chiefs and fit.

"Just look at the options that he gives you when he plays.
"I don't think there is any player who wouldn't enjoy having an honest striker like Samir whose effort can never be doubted.
"I don't know what is happening with Chiefs, but I hope these mistakes don't become regular," says Heric.
