Dozen waiting at Chiefs...

The selection decisions which have come with consistency from Nasreddine Nabi have left a dozen players standing in the cold as Kaizer Chiefs reached the five games mark over the weekend.

While Nabi has been commended for his choices in seeking to revive the fortunes of Chiefs by identifying his spine, there is a section of the squad that has been stung by the changes.

The side have won three and lost two from their opening five matches in all competitions.

In those fixtures, Fiacre Ntwari has played from start to finish in all, just like Reeve Frosler, Inacio Miguel and Rushwin Dortley at the back, with Bradley Cross starting all but substituted, just like Gaston Sirino, Ranga Chivaviro and Mduduzi Shabalala.

Yusuf Maart, Samkelo Zwane, Edson Castillo and Njabulo Blom have taken care of central midfield, but none has started all, just like Wandile Duba and Christian Saile Basomboli further up the pitch.

Given Msimango, Mfundo Vilakazi, Ashley Du Preez, Pule Mmodi and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo have all played from the bench.

This has meant up to 12 players that have had minutes before for the first team at Naturena are yet to get minutes this season.

The goalkeeping pair of Brandon Petersen and Bruce Bvuma is waiting behind Ntwari after not making full use of their opportunities last term.

Happy Mashiane is back on the bench and still to establish himself as a regular for all the years he has spent at Chiefs.

Zitha Kwinika and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe have been relegated to the stands, while Bongani Sam, Edmilson Dove and Dillan Solomons are also yet to play this term after having had injuries.

In midfield – Mduduzi Mdantsane, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Tebogo Potsane and Lehlogonolo Matlou provide the long list of those waiting under Nabi.

The four are yet to genuinely justify why they were brought in from different clubs.

With another 26 league games, plus at least two in the Carling Knockout and Nedbank Cup, players without minutes to date will be hoping injuries, suspensions and drop in form will open the doors for them.
