Speaking to CAFOnline, Essien revealed: "My most unforgettable moment was scoring the equalising goal against the South African team, Mamelodi Sundowns. It was an incredible experience."
The pivotal moment came during Matchday Three of the group stages. In a game that would decide Sundowns' fate, the South African side initially took the lead when Melinda Kgadiete found the back of the net in the 21st minute.
Despite relentless pressure from the Queens, it appeared the Brazilians would hold on for a crucial win.
However, deep into stoppage time, Essien stepped up with a stunning goal to bring Edo Queens back on level terms.
The drama didn't end there as moments later, Mary Mamudu netted the winner, sealing a 2-1 victory for the Nigerian side.
The win not only sent Edo Queens into the knockout stages but also eliminated Banyana Ba Style from the competition.
Essien's equaliser has since been hailed as one of the defining moments of the tournament so far.
The forward's contributions were recognised further when she was included in CAF's Technical Study Group's Best XI from the group stage.
Reflecting on her journey, Essien credited her father as her biggest influence, saying his encouragement pushed her to pursue football, starting with street games during her school days.
