Khune's Nedbank Cup dream team: Mofokeng makes the cut!

With the penultimate stage of the Nedbank Cup set to take place this weekend, Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune has revealed who he would pick as part of his dream XI. Here's a look!

The Story

The Nedbank Cup once again takes centre stage this weekend, with four teams vying for a spot in this year's final.

Defending champions Orlando Pirates will take on Marumo Gallants on Sunday evening, while Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns are set for an intense battle earlier that same day.

Although the competition dates back to the 1970s, it officially became the Nedbank Cup in 2008, with Sundowns winning the first edition under the current sponsorship.

Since then, the tournament has produced some remarkable success stories, with the likes of Moroka Swallows, Free State Stars, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, and TS Galaxy famously lifting the trophy.

Khune, who won the tournament in 2013 with Chiefs, has now selected his dream team made up of players who have excelled in the competition.

The former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper left out the 11th player, allowing fans to decide on the missing second centre-back – see below!

Khune’s Ultimate Nedbank Cup XI:

Goalkeeper (Kaizer Chiefs) – Itumeleng Khune

Right Central Defender (Orlando Pirates) – Happy Jele
