'No right back worked more than Mudau'

Fans did not hold back from expressing their frustration with the exclusion of Bafana Bafana star Khuliso Mudau from a highest-rated 2023 Africa Cup of Nations XI.

The team of the tournament was calculated and put together by Sofascore based on their ratings in matches throughout the tournament.

Some notable names present in the XI include South Africa's Ronwen Williams  and Teboho Mokoena, as well as Morocco star Achraf Hakimi.

Social media users, however, believed that there should have been three Bafana players in the team and were upset that the Paris Saint-Germain player was included at the expense of Mudau.

Some also argued that the South African was the best right-back at the tournament, praising his performance at the competition in the process.

"Hakimi? Change your team of the tournament, we ain't stupid. No right back worked more than Mudau," wrote @Auti_eSharp.

"I just saw Hakimi and I knew you are smoking socks. We haven't been watching the same tournament. Where is the Nigerian captain? The whole player of the tournament and where is Khuliso Mudau?" asked @no_time_4_games.

"I'm from Nigeria and Mudau was better than Hakimi," says @Nic73706625.

"Which AFCON did you watch? Hakimi is there on what grounds? Khuliso Mudau has been the best RB at the tournament. Stop this bias, Hakimi and Oshimen were totally average. Fix it," says @El_CapitanoSA.

"So you think Hakimi who left the tournament with about 3 more matches to go is the overall best right back? You ought to put more effort to your work and importantly take your followers more seriously," writes @Kideo_Mah.

"Y'all had to squeeze in Hakimi so that we can have a celebrity player there," says @LungstarSibiya.

"Hakimi didn't perform anywhere close to Sailor Mudau," says @Harvey___H.

"Remove Hakimi and put Mudau," suggests @Adebankenkali.
