Ex-Chiefs star now business tycoon conquers multiple industries!

Former Kaizer Cheifs star Willard Katsande has broken into various industries in the business world following his retirement in 2022, picking up where he left off from his footballing career.

The Zimbabwean-born former midfielder was somewhat of a general, a dominant figure in the midfield and his life after the beautiful game, some would say, mirrors the approach he had on the pitch as well.

He played in South Africa's top-flight for an admirable amount of time and represented a host of clubs that included Ajax Cape Town, the club he joined from Zimbabwean side Gunners Harare all the way back in 2010, Kaizer Chiefs, and Sekhukhune United.

He ended his career with a gleaming trophy cabinet, having two DStv Premiership titles to show off as well as one MTN8 medal to parade around with. In his professional career, he made 345 club appearances, scoring 19 goals and garnering 10 assists from deep in the midfield, per Transfermarkt

Contrary to many footballers who hang up their boots, he decided not to venture into a career in football when he closed the curtains on his career, but opted to go into other fields and take that over as well, continuing the trend he set as a footballer who walked onto the field looking to dominate the midfield area. When your back is against the wall and you're in dire need of cover, Katsande was the player you would look to. Now, it seems as though not much has changed. Footballers have the options of going into media and becoming pundits or perhaps even feature writers for various print and digital football publications, or even take up executive roles in a football club. The ex-Chiefs man, however, decided that those options were not for him. At least, not so much in the professional or executive capacity.

Instead, he decided to venture into many, perhaps very contrasting, industries.

Towards the end of October, he announced that he bought taxis for a new business venture. Naturally, most people that saw his message assumed that he would be venturing into the taxi business. And everyone who thought that way were wrong.

However, almost a month later he uploaded another photo showing off his fleet of taxis. Although this time they were upgraded and it was confirmed that it will be used for his business that offers funeral and burial cover. Not only that, the business will "celebrates your birthday with a personalised soccer jersey."

The former Ajax Cape Town star started Tshepang and Ruvimbo Funeral Plan, and he also has a fashion business which seems to be a perfect fit for him given that the retired player always looks snazzy when he is spotted in either social media or real life.

He began the fashion brand, that offers both clothes for men and women, called Boss Ya Mboka. The ranges it offers seem to combine the important elements of both style and practicality.

And as if that's not enough, the star has ventured into another industry that seems to contradict both of the businesses he has already established. That industry is construction. He is also involved in the company Katsande Partners, of which he is a director, which offers to "provide value in the fields of repair work, painting and hardware solutions." That has been labelled to be the "Katsande way", which are words you can live by!
