Ivory Coast stars have received a wallet-thickening prize and more as a reward for winning the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Not many would have had the Elephants as their favourites to win the competition following their group stage performances, with the team managing to make the knockout rounds despite picking up just three points in as many games.

Those doubts would have perhaps grown following the departure of former manager Jean-Louis Gasset but with Emmerson Fae stepping in, the side managed to achieve what some would have perhaps considered impossible.
With the odds stacked against them, the Elephants managed to stomp over every opponent they faced in the knockout round to win the tournament on home soil, much to the delight of supporters as well as their President Alassane Ouattara.
The members of the AFCON-winning national side were welcomed at the Presidential Palace following their triumph, where their Head of State received them with joy.

Fae, who masterminded their triumph, was rewarded a whopping €150 000 (around R3 million).
"You have brought happiness to all Ivorians, bravo, bravo," the President said.
