Former Orlando Pirates star Jomo Sono shared a story about a time when he "was just about to strangle" former teammate Pitso Mosimane.

Sono recalled a game against Kaizer Chiefs when he played with the former Al Ahly manager, and revealed how a "pompous" Mosimane did not listen to the former New York Cosmos.

Speaking the Bettor Podcast, Sono shared how the former Abha Club coach's stubbornness resulted in a moment of brilliance.
When Sono was asked if he saw a little bit of himself in Mosimane, he responded: "Yeah, I do. I do."
"Arrogant, pompous, you know.
"I can relate to a story where I saw that this kid will go far in football and in life.
"We were playing Kaizer Chiefs. I was still playing at Ellis Park. I was wearing number 10, please. Not any other number.
"And then we played, and we played. Chiefs equalised with about five minutes to go. [We] got another dead ball just outside the box. And I said to the players: go and wait for me in the centre.
"As I was talking to the players, the only player who didn't leave was Pitso.
"He stood there. So when I turned my head, he just blasted. He took a shot. Straight [into the] top corner. I was just about to strangle him, but the ball was in the net; what do we do?
"I have to celebrate. And after the game, I asked him: 'But why did you do it? What if you had missed?'
"He said: 'No, I wanted to prove a point to you that what you can do, I can do."
