Fans react to latest Nabi news

With reports that Kaizer Chiefs may have to wait longer for the arrival of manager Nasreddine Nabi ahead of their reported pre-season trip to Turkey, KickOff readers have now had a say on the matter. Here's a look!

The story

Amakhosi are reportedly set for a pre-season camp in Turkey, with preparation set to begin on 4 July.

The club are yet to formally confirm Nabi's appointment but it is believed that it's only a matter of time before the deal is announced. Nabi remains in charge of Moroccan outfit FAR Rabat, which still needs to play in the final of the Throne Cup.

As such, it appears unlikely that Nabi will oversee the pre-season in Turkey as the date of the final in Morocco is not yet confirmed.

KO readers on Facebook have now weighed in on the matter:

"The excuses have started," said Kealeboga Thabiso Mogale.

"He mustn't rush, there is no hurry in South Africa," said Mondise Sithole.

"Nabi did confirm this two weeks back, we know that he won't be available anytime soon. His contract hasn't ended. You can't manage two teams at the same time, let Nabi finish the finals and he will come. Relax Chiefs fans," said Andile Ndlela.

"They'll be heading to Turkey with Arthur Zwane," said Willy Mothapo.

"After 5 games, Nabi FC will say we want local coaches who know South African players or a Chiefs legend who knows the philosophy of Kaizer Chiefs," said Tinah Maroodze.

"Fernando da Cruz is more qualified than all PSL coaches combined," said Boyabenyathi Gatsheni.

"Peterson should be given a chance to coach Chiefs," said Lenzo Sia Sothulisa.

"He has a final to attend to," said Phumudzo Ronald Mudau.

He may have anticipated that it might take time hence he sent Da Cruz," said Noah Mpahleni.

"We have 16 clubs in the PSL," said Sandile Wayne Gamede.

"He is a good coach but to build a winning team it will take him two seasons if he is lucky. Unless they give him authority to sign players of his own choice," said Lucas Mbathane.

"Kaizer Chiefs knew about the possibility of Nabi reaching the finals, that's why they made arrangements with the conditioning coach to arrive on time to work on the fitness of the players. By the time Nabi arrives, he will find them ready to do ball work," said Mamannye Wa Mahlaela.

Meanwhile, Chippa United recently released 16 players following the 2023/24 season, including Luvuyo Memela and Menzi Ndwandwe. The Eastern Cape side are now linked with big signings, with the likes of Bongani Zungu, Gabadinho Mhango, and Andile Jali.

KO readers had this to say:

"Guys, will the Chippa coaches be able to manage Andile Jali, Bongani Zungu, and Gabadinho Mhango," asks Thokozani MafavukenjengoJesu Ngubelanga.

"Dumisani Zuma and Thembinkosi Lorch please Mr Mpengesi," said Wanda Wonder Tshirana.

"Don't go to Chippa is my advice to them. Rather join Stellenbosch, Sekhukhune, or Cape Town City. Chippa will release them after 6 months," said Leslie Saint Samuel.

"You wish. Zungu is going abroad," says Lefa Talane.

"When it comes to experiments, Chippa has no match, they have tried everything," said Siphelo Mhlekazi Qangule.

"Chippa will sign big names only for 1 season and then they offload them. They have been doing this for some time now, that is why we are not surprised," said Bongisile Bongs.

"I always love Mhango, that striker is very exciting. And most importantly, he responds to the crowd by simply putting the ball at the back of the net. From there, it's exciting times, Asambe Nono soyolal' ebhedin," said Monde Manyamalala.

"Choosing to lose more money for no good reason for these aging players," said Mdue Mbulelo Makhakhi.
