Shalulile: The time I get the Ballon d'Or...

The striker was a guest on the club's Pitchside Podcast and gave viewers an insight into his ambitions and how it differs from his peers.

In his career thus far, the Namibia international is a CAF Champions League top scorer and has won the DStv Premiership on two occasions. He has also been the league's top scorer for the last three seasons and shows no signs of letting up.

He revealed that he stays hungry by not being satisfied and always wanted more. He used Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as examples, referring to their desire as the source that drove them to dominate the beautiful game for well over a decade.

"Why not here in Africa, why can't we be as hungry as them?" he questioned.

While many players feel immense joy after winning a league title with a team, Shalulile alluded to not quite feeling the same magnitude of elation. Instead, he is working towards winning what is arguably one of world football's most commended awards.

"Different players also have different ambitions and they want to have the same trophy as you. I always make reference to it in the bible — Habakkuk (the eighth book of the 12 minor prophets of the Bible). 'He should write a vision and make it plain on paper'," the forward said.

"Write your goals on paper and put it on, and you work according to that. And make sure [that] when you wake up the only thing you see is the trophy."

Speaking on the time he won his first PSL title, the 30-year-old revealed that it "was not a 'wow', but I was happy."

"The time I get the Ballon d'Or it's going to be a 'wow'," he added.

"If you want it, it's possible. Some people may think it's a joke but you never know. Write the vision; make it plain on paper. You should go for it until you see where you can go."

Up to today, only one player from the Mother continent has ever won a Ballon d'Or, George Weah in 1995.
