Katsande: Billiat will be instrumental against Bafana

Former Kaizer Chiefs star Willard Katsande has now claimed that his former teammate Khama Billiat will be "influential" for Zimbabwe in their game against Bafana Bafana next month. Here's a look.

The story

Katsande has left many people with questions after he posted on his X account on Thursday after that Billiat will feature for his country in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Notably, there has been no official confirmation by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) that the Yadah FC winger has been called up to the squad,

Furthermore, Billiat retired from international football in 2021, bringing an end to a career that spanned over a decade.

"Khama Billiat will be instrumental in our up coming World Cup Qualifiers vs Lesotho and South Africa," Kantsande wrote on X.

As a former team mate, Katsande might know information that is yet to be shared with everyone else.

When he joined Yadah in February, Billiat refused to close the door on a Warrior return, hinting at poentially changing his mind.

"If everything is enjoyable, you never know. I'm not promising anything, but i love my country so much, and now that I'm back home and feeling so much loved, I can still change my mind (to play for the Warriors)," said Billiat, according to Soccer24.

His return to the national team remains a polarising debate in some circles in Zim, and former national team midfielder Justice Majabvi, stated that it is not a good idea for the former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker to return to the fold.

"I think Khama should for now continue with club football. I wouldn't want him involved in national team after retiring," said Majabvi. "He isn't fit for the highest level for now, like international football. He spent a lot of time not really active, it might affect him.

"Those games require full fitness, mentally and physically. So of course it's not wise for him to consider returning to the national team. Let it go, give young ones a chance. Stay at club, focus and have less stress."
