Mamelodi Sundowns progressed to the African Football League final after defeating Al Ahly 1-0 on aggregate.
Masandawana made one change from Sunday's first-leg win against Ahly, as Teboho Mokoena made way for Mothobi Mvala, while Percy Tau lined-up at the other end against his former side.
It was a tough start in front of an intimidation home crowd for Masandawana, who conceded a penalty on eight minutes from a foul on Tau by goalkeeper Ronwen Williams. The Sundowns shot-stopper redeemed himself though when denied Ali Maaloul from the penalty spot.
The Bafana Bafana captain almost turned a villain midway in the half after he misjudged the flight of a looping cross and allowed a charging Mahmoud Kahraba to fire off the post.
Tau threatened to put one over his former employers on the half-hour mark when he beat the offside to get in behind and volleyed off the top of the woodwork.
Sundowns introduced Bongani Zungu following the start of the second half and took out the hard-running as well as versatile Mvala.
The Cairo Red Devils kept piling the pressure and forced the Brazilians in their own half, with Kahraba contesting every high ball in the area and making life difficult for Williams.
Masandawana were down ten-men in the last five minutes as substitute Junior Mendieta got a straight red card for a dangerous challenge.
There was late drama with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) consulted after Khuliso Mudau was said to have handled in the area, but no penalty was awarded and the Brazilians emerged victorious and will meet Wydad Casablanca in the final of the inaugural African Football League.
