Big update on Mngqithi's future at Downs

With speculation going around that Mamelodi Sundowns are set to make changes to their technical, KickOff have got a crucial update on current head coach Manqoba Mngqithi's future.

Sundowns have endured a less-than-perfect start to their season in all competitions, by their standards, after yet again surrendering the MTN8 title at the semi-final stage to Stellenbosch FC.

To their credit, The Brazilians sit top of the Betway Premiership standings, level on points (21) with Orlando Pirates after eight games played.

The side has also just collected two points from the two games played so far in the CAF Champions League group stage, making their upcoming home encounter against Raja Casablanca a key crossroads in their journey in the inter-club competition.

The club's hierarchy would have been watching this slow progress with a keen eye.

Sundowns have not been entirely convincing so far under Mngqithi, who was handed the head coaching responsibilities after Rulani Mokwena was let go, paving way for the 37-year-old's move to Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.

According to media reports, Mngqithi is likely to be replaced by a new coach on Tuesday, likely to be of European origin.
