Downs reap benefits despite injury ravage…

Mamelodi Sundowns' financial muscle, which enabled them to assemble a big squad, has rescued them from the list of injuries in their camp.

Sundowns are without a sizeable portion of their squad, but the effects of their absence have not been visible, staying top of the Betway Premiership and progressing in the Nedbank Cup and CAF Champions League.

Mothobi Mvala, Rivaldo Coetzee, Keanu Cupido, Themba Zwane, and Siyabonga Mabena are yet to play under Miguel Cardoso due to injury.

Then, Divine Lunga, Zuko Mdunyelwa, and Arthur Sales have featured under the new mentor but are out for now and working their way back.

"It is important to understand that while we have a big squad, we have 10 injured players," says Cardoso.

"Sometimes I hear people asking for players who are not even in the condition to play.

"Several of them are already in the last stage of their recovery process so that they make the team stronger for us to face the schedule the right way by rotating players and maintaining the level of the team.
