'It was my wish to see Rulani going'

In this week's edition of Supporters Forum, KickOff speaks to Mamelodi Sundowns die-hard supporter Sipho "MuSiphos" Nkuna about his long-standing love for the DStv Premiership champions.

The Sundowns Kempton Park supporters branch member applauds the club's decision to relieve Rulani Mokwena of his duties.

Name of supporter?

"My name is Sipho, popularly known as MuSiphos. I'm from Kempton Park, so I'm part of the Kempton Park Branch Executive.

"I'm in the executive structure as the supporter co-ordinator in the Kempton Park Branch. I'm working at National Transport Movement, which is a trade union."

Club supported?

"I grew up a part and parcel of the Yellow Nation. I have been supporting Sundowns since I was seven years old, since the days of former owner Zola Mahobe. Those were the days of Piano and Shoeshine. Screamer Tshabalala was the coach back then."

How long supported?

"I started supporting Sundowns around the '80s."

Are you happy with the bosses?

"Right now, yes, I am happy. The team is being run smoothly. I'm happy with the Sundowns leadership.

"I stand by 'Flamingo' [Sundowns sporting director Flemming Berg], you can't be a coach that continuously signs players the whole season to only bring us the league title.

"If we have the best players, then we must win everything on offer. We judge you by the results. I'm happy with Flamingo, I can't complain."

Are you happy with the coach?

"It was my wish to see Rulani Mokwena going. He is not bringing anything to the club. Last season, we failed to reach the Champions League final, and this season that has just finished, again we only won the league.

'We failed to reach the Champions League final, and we are rated the best team in the African continent. We were almost beaten by Yanga, even though we had superior players.

"Because of the coach's ego and favouritism, Sundowns could not qualify for CAF Champions League final. Rulani is [was] not good for Sundowns at all.

"Let's give Manqoba Mngqithi a chance, he has never been given a chance at Sundowns. We can't judge a person who has never been given a platform."

Are you happy with the players?

"I'm happy with the Sundowns squad. I don't think we need to beef up too much. What we need to do is to reinforce the defence and the strike force."

Who do you want them to sign?

"Oswin Appollis from Polokwane City and Vincent Pule."

Your message to the team?

"Let's stay calm. Let's not lose focus, let's get to the Club World Cup and the CAF Champions League well-prepared."
