Volatile CAF atmosphere didn’t bother Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mosa Lebusa admits the conditions in their Group A encounter against TP Mazembe in the CAF Champions League on Saturday was 'difficult and volatile'.

Sundowns' fine run of form in all competitions was brought to a halt by the five-time African champions, who grinded out a narrow 1-0 win in Lubumbashi.

The match was played at the Stade TP Mazembe where there isn't too much a gap between the supporters in the stands and the players as the Brazilians experienced on the day.

"It was difficult, volatile everything is close. The fans are very close to you, and you can hear everything they say to you but such conditions don't faze us," Lebusa said via the Sundowns media department.

"I mean, we have been to worse conditions and I guess that's why they say, as a footballer you play for such games and whatever they say to you, you just take it as motivation and keep on going, but the result didn't go our way," he continued.

The defeat was the club's first in this season's Champions League, and it wasn't due to a lack of trying after the Brazilians hit the upright four times in the match.

Lebusa was extremely disappointed with the set-back, but wants to put it to bed and bounce back in midweek against AmaZulu in the DStv Premiership.

"We missed a lot of chances and they got one chance and they scored and I think we need to learn from such games. I felt we controlled the game very well, but what matters the most is the scoreline.

"We lost the game and I'm very disappointed but we have to go back and work hard. Any team has a 24-hour load, you can only be down for 24 hours after that you move on to the next game," Lebusa noted.

"We have to redeem ourselves in three days time so we just have to go back home and work hard for our next opposition and make sure that we go back to feeling good," he continued.

In the Premiership, the six-time Premiership champions are yet to lose and have a perfect record with nine successive victories.
