Mamelodi Sundowns facing defensive crisis with piling injuries

Mamelodi Sundowns face an impending defensive crisis with first-team duo Terrence Mashego and Abdelmounaim Boutouil ruled out of action through injury.

Mashego and Boutouil were both signed by Sundowns at the start of the season but are yet to feature for a sustained period so far.

Mashego's arrival at Chloorkop came at a time when the Brazilians sent former Defender of the Season Lyle Lakay out on loan back to former club Cape Town City.

Masandawana are now down to just two options at left-back with Aubrey Modiba and the relatively inexperienced Sfiso Ngobeni who the club recalled from SuperSport United.

"We only have two long-term injury concerns which is both Boutouil and Terrence Mashego, they have gone under the knife and undergone surgery.

"Those are two long-term injuries, but the majority of the players are making good progress," Mokwena said.

The Brazilians are set to meet Orlando Pirates in their next league fixture at the Loftus stadium on December 30.
