Mngqithi: Downs have not put pressure on anyone

Manqoba Mngqithi remains unfazed about the pressure of coaching Mamelodi Sundowns and delivering trophies at Chloorkop.

Mngqithi was appointed head coach at Sundowns at the beginning of this season following the departure of Rulani Mokwena.

The former Golden Arrows has already missed a chance to win silverware with the Brazilians so far this season after failing to capture both the MTN8 and Carling Knockout trophies.

However, Masandawana currently sitting top of the Betway Premiership standings after eight matches played this campaign.

Despite failing to win any trophy so far this season, Mngqithi remains confident that his team is still on the right track to achieve success this season.

"In this job that we doing, there is always pressure, every performance, every game you play you are under pressure. Coaches job is more stressful than the job of a CEO who is mostly reviewed at the end of the year. Coaches are reviewed after every match, after every week and I don't think it helps to always think about pressure as a coach because you must just focus on what you can control and leave what you cannot control.

"At this stage the club has not put pressure on anyone and I think the boys have performed very well in 17 games they scored 38 goals and that's a good return. We lost four games in those 18 matches and collected points. In my opinion, the team is coming alright", said Mngqithi.

Sundowns are currently in Morocco for their CAF Champions League match against AS FAR at the Stade El Abdi on Saturday.
