Mmotong: Mkhulise can replace Mshishi

Former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Koketso Mmotong believes the club has already found Themba Zwane's replacement in Sphelele Mkhulise.

The 28-year-old Mkhulise has been showing maturity in his game every time he is afforded an opportunity by Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi.

The attacking midfielder has now scored two goals in three league matches.

"With Themba Zwane out with an injury, this is Sphelele Mkhulise's chance to get game time," Mmotong tells KickOff.

"Game time can put him on the same level as Mshishi. Mkhulise is a perfect replacement for Mshishi.

"In terms of his play, Mkhulise doesn't lose balls, and he is level-headed. He is the best player to replace Mshishi.

"He is underrated because Sundowns are not giving him enough game time. But every chance he gets he makes a difference. He either scores or creates.

"So, for me, he deserves to play regularly."

On Sunday, log leaders Sundowns visit the unpredictable Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Rise and Shine have won two of their opening matches, and have collected seven points.

"The fact that the game is being played at the Old Peter Mokaba makes it a bit difficult," Mmotong says.

"But Sundowns they've got depth. Polokwane City can't be a banana skin for Sundowns, not now, at least. As long as these teams play defensively against Sundowns, then we are in for a long wait."
