‘Peter is now worth R50 million’

Peter Shalulile's transfer evaluation has been pegged at R50 million by his former boss who famously stated that he was previously worth R30 million.

Shalulile's fine scoring form at Sundowns where he has 77 goals (plus 21 assists) in only 122 games has meant his value keeps increasing having arrived with 27 goals for Highlands Park while they were in the top league.

The Namibian became the first ever player to reach 100 goals in less than 200 appearances playing for a South African top league club.

It is no surprise clubs there has been admiration from the emerging Middle East market.

"Peter is now worth R50 million," declares Larry Brookstone, who was Shalulile's boss at Highlands Park.

Prior to moving to Sundowns, Brookstone famously stated Shalulile is worth R30 million but was scoffed at for making that evaluation.

Fast forward to August 2023, Shalulile is now worth R52 million, this is according to Transfermarkt.

"It is encouraging to hear that they also have their evaluation in the same ranks.

"Where are all the people that were laughing at me when I suggested that he was worth R30 million at the time?

"The guy is a prolific goal scorer.

"The guy is a goal poacher and a hard worker and exceptionally quick.

"Then on top of that he is an honest human being.

"Where do you find strikers like that in Africa?

"Even here in the league here in South Africa, where is a striker like Peter Shalulile?

"As long as he is in a happy space then it gives me all the joy.

"I have always wanted him to have a good life and that is what matters the most to me.

"This is a guy who comes from near the Namibian border with Angola.

"When we got him from Tura Magic nobody knew about him or the club.

"I don't think that club even knew what kind of player they had because I don't think he was even a prolific scorer for them," says Brookstone.
