Sundowns' fresh headache in Cairo

Mamelodi Sundowns will have a fresh headache posed by Pyramids when they clash in the CAF Champions League crucial group encounter on Tuesday evening in Cairo.

The Brazilians dropped points for two successive matches in Group A after they were held to a goalless draw by the Egyptian side in Tshwane just over a week ago.

Pyramids posed a danger to Sundowns with South African forward Fagrie Lakay leading the line and they have now been boosted by the return of striker Fiston Mayele.

Mayele missed the trip to Pretoria the last time out as visa issues denied him entry into the country.

The Democratic Republic of Congo striker has scored four goals in seven league starts for Pyramids since he was signed from Young Africans, after he led the Tanzanian giants to the CAF Confederation Cup final with seven goals last season.

The Brazilians head coach Rulani Mokwena says he is aware of the danger that will come from Pyramids, with Mayele who will be part of the attack.

"I like the profile of this Pyramids squad. I watched the game against Baladiyyat Al Mehalla (in the league last Thursday), they did not have Ramadan Sobhi on the pitch but they had the experience of (Abdalla) El Said, the number 19, who I think is a fantastic player, even though he's 38, 39," Mokwena told journalists in Egypt.

"They didn't have (Karim) Hafez on the pitch but you could see the combination of Mayele, Fagrie Lakay, (Mostafa) Fathi with the left foot, coming from the right side, that helps a little bit because when he inverts, (Mohamed) Chibi goes very aggressive and delivers box into the box.

"They can be very aggressive in pushing four, maybe even five players into the front line. You know that Mayele will be there, with movements near and far into the box, (Walid) El Karti will definitely be close to the attacking trio of Mayele, El Said coming a little bit from the left side and then Fagrie and then you've got four," he added.

The match will get underway at 6pm.
