Head coach Rulani Mokwena has moved to defend midfielder Bongani Zungu after he was sent off for a horror tackle on Bernard Parker as Mamelodi Sundowns were knocked out of the Carling Knockout Cup by TS Galaxy on Wednesday.
Parker appeared to have suffered a serious injury after entering into a tackle with Zungu who received a straight red card for a studs up challenge at the Mbombela Stadium.

Speaking after the match, Mokwena insisted that there was no malicious intent by Zungu with the midfielder visibly outraged at being sent off.
"I can only wish Bernard Parker a speedy recovery," Mokwena said post-match.
"I hope it's not as serious as it looks.
"Knowing Bongani Zungu, I know it was not malicious, and that there was no malicious intent behind it. The only thing that I can say is that I wish Bernard Parker a speedy recovery."
Wednesday's result is the second tournament that the Brazilians crashed out of after being dumped out of the MTN8 by eventual winners Orlando Pirates.
Sundowns will next host Moroka Swallows in their next DStv Premiership encounter at Loftus Versveld Stadium on 29 October.
Kick-off is at 15:30.
