Mamelodi Sundowns legend Sello 'Page' Mahlangu has reflected on his time at Chloorkop, saying that Kaizer Chiefs' alcohol and racial issues can only be found in a divided team.
Mahlangu says given his view on the recent reports regarding the internal tensions at Kaizer Chiefs.
"In our days such things did happen, it's just that they were well-kept secrets, unlike today," Mahlangu tells KickOff.
"Nowadays players are pulling each other down, there is no problem of forming cliques because every person has his people he prefers to be close to. Which is normal. It's happening in every workplace.
"(The) problem starts when others decide to tell the management about things they shouldn't know about. You can go to every club's function players will drink alcohol even if it was made clear to them they shouldn't drink on that day," Mahlangu added.

"In football, if the results are not there, everybody gets frustrated. There is no harmony. Depression creeps in.
"The reason Sundowns are doing well is because there's harmony, even if they drink, nobody is going to talk because the machine is well-oiled and running.
"Our generation at Sundowns was united, even if you did bad things we would protect you, and at the same time reprimand you. We would then try to find out what's wrong in your personal life, what might have led to you coming to work drunk and indulging in alcohol.
"We only reported you to Natasha Tshiclas when you ignored us. But whatever you do, don't come to our training drunk. We've sent some of our drunk teammates back home, some we hid in our cars and lie to the coach and said they were injured.
"We did that to prevent you from getting into our training sessions drunk because some of our teammates did that. But we were stopping them, protecting them from the coach and Peter Koutrollis. Lovers Mohlala was troublesome, but he was not drinking, and he was the first person to drag you to a car if you arrived at training drunk."

"He wouldn't allow you to go anywhere near the training session smelling alcohol. He'd tell you, 'Don't embarrass yourself, sit here, we will take the bullet for you, we will tell them you are injured'."
And what would happen next, we would drive them out. So I don't know what happened at Kaizer Chiefs for people to throw a live snake at each other.
"Maybe it's all because of the racial tension that is currently there. They are not a united force. They are reporting each other to the management not aware that they are also ruining their image," the legend concluded.
