Mamelodi Sundowns have extended their record of the most consecutive wins from the start of the season in the PSL era to ten matches and according to a statistical forecast, the club is on course to break another record of the earliest title victory.
The big chasm between other DStv Premiership sides and the Brazilians was evident after Masandawana remained top of the log for virtually two months, without playing league football and were only overtaken by Cape Town City, who had played five extra matches, for a couple days.

City's form of five consecutive victories before their loss to Stellenbosch last Friday has made them the nearest challengers to Sundowns in second spot on the table.
However, after 14 matches, the Citizens' win rate has only risen to 57%, the highest of any other side in the PSL besides Sundowns.
The Brazilians broke their own record of the earliest title victory, after they won their sixth consecutive DStv Premiership title with seven games to go last season, breaking the record they had set in 2007 when they won the title with five games to spare.
Masandawana are on course to break their own record of the earliest title victory and a statistical forecast has revealed that they could wrap up the title before reaching 20 games, if they keep on winning.
Judging by Cape Town City's win rate of 57%, they are likely to end up around 52 points after 30 games. Barring any massive improvements from the likes of Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United, it's unlikely that any other side will reach 60 points at the end of the season, according to statistics.

The Tshwane giants therefore need eight more straight victories to more or less wrap up the title (which would take them to 54 points) and another ten more wins, in whatever sequence could guarantee them the title, still with a lot of games to spare.
Moreover, no other PSL side has reached 60 points at the end of the season since the 2016/17 campaign when the now defunct Bidvest Wits won the title with exactly that figure.
