Supporters Forum: Mamelodi Sundowns fan Mamello Makha

In this edition of Supporters Forum, KickOff catches up with Mamelodi Sundowns' brand new supporter Mamello Makha on her long-standing affair with the Premier Soccer League title serial winners.

By dumping her beloved Bloemfontein Celtic for Sundowns the colourful Makha who is also a businesswoman has followed in the footsteps of other well-known supporters like MamaJoy who left Soweto giants Orlando Pirates for Royal AM.

Name of supporter

"My name is Mamello Makha, some are even calling me Mamzo."

Club supported?

"I was supporting Celtic but now I'm with Mamelodi Sundowns.

"Celtic are in the ABC Motsepe League, they are still trying to come back. The way Celtic left us hanging was not right.

"Every season we would hear that Bloemfontein Celtic is being sold. That happened three years in a row. But still, the management will keep telling us the team is going nowhere. And we were promised it would never be taken out of Bloemfontein or the province.

"But one day we woke up to the news that Celtic had been sold. It shocked many of us. They failed me as their loyal supporter. Max Tshabalala disappointed and failed us.

"Even in the days of Celtic, I'd always be behind Sundowns, unaware that one day I'd be their supporter.

"In terms of the culture, I see Bloemfontein Celtic in Sundowns. I'm not here to steal any supporter's limelight, I'm here to add the numbers on the stands, and I love the way I've been welcomed by the Masandawana family.

"I'm not a Super Fan, I'm not even getting any payment to support Sundowns. I'm paying for everything out of my own pocket.

Are you happy with the bosses?

"I like the commitment the Sundowns management show to their supporters. They acknowledge and love their supporters. I wish every South African team could be inspired by the way Sundown's management is running the team.

Are you happy with the coach?

"Yeah, Sundowns's coach is the best in Africa, Sundowns is the best team in Africa. They are a winning team. So yes I'm happy with the coach."

Are you happy with the players?

"There is fair competition amongst the players, nobody is more important than the other.

"I'm happy with the way the players are trying to impress the coach all the time. At Sundowns if you don't perform well you not going to get a chance to play."

Who do you want them to sign?

"For now because we are winning I'm okay with the current team. Complaints only come when you are losing. We have enough good players, that's why we even carry Bafana Bafana. Without Sundowns, there is no Bafana Bafana."

Your message to the team?

"They should carry on entertaining us, we promise to grow the club's support base. We are working on that, I'm new at Sundowns, and I have only been a Sundowns fan for three months, but we love them, they should continue making us proud."
