Supporters Forum: Mdeva

In this edition of Supporters Forum, KickOff speaks to Mamelodi Sundowns fan "Mdeva" about his long-standing affair with the DStv Premiership serial winners.

Name of supporter?

"My real name is David Mashigo. I'm a Mamelodi boy, I was born here in Mamelodi.

"I worked in a supermarket, Checkers in Silver Lakes."

Club supported?

"I grew up in my mother's family. The whole family, the uncles, were all Buccaneers.

"That was until my father took me to stay with him, staying with him I discovered he was a staunch Sundowns supporter who travelled to Stadiums to watch them play.

"From there onwards I became a Sundowns fan. Pirates I only had a soft spot for them because the family on my mother's side were supporting it."

How long supported?

"I've supported Sundowns since 1995. My favourite players were Zane Moosa and Joel 'Fire' Masilela.

"They made me fall in love with Sundowns."

Are you happy with the bosses?

"I'm speaking on behalf of all the Sundowns supporters when I'm saying we are very happy with their good work.

"They've transformed Sundowns a lot, that's why we are beating people left and right."

PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA - MAY 20: Mamelodi Sundown

Are you happy with the coach?

"This season will tell us a lot about the coach after the let go of the likes of Steve Komphela.

"But so far I'm happy with what he has done, I just want to see how he is going to perform starting a season from scratch as a head coach."

PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA - MAY 16: Mamelodi Sundowns

Are you happy with the players?

"Very happy. I have no complaints. Even though some have left, we understand because they want game time.

"I'm also happy with the new players, the likes of Ribeiro they are already scoring in pre-season friendlies."

Who do you want them to sign?

"I think we are all right, I think we are covered, my only worry is losing Andile Jali to Moroka Swallows.

"Other than that, we are covered, they can close the chequebook book now."

Your message to the team?

"As supporters, we are very happy, and we beg them to continue where they left off last season.

"They must not put themselves under pressure by trying to win every trophy, we just want CAF Champions League, we want the second star before the one we have now gotten rusty.

"As supporters we will always be behind them, win, draw or lose, we love them."
