Themba Zwane has his say on Mthethwa to Chiefs deal

Attacking midfielder Themba Zwane does not expect upcoming opponents Stellenbosch to be a weaker team when the two teams meet on Wednesday, following the departure of midfielder Sbongiseni Mthethwa to Kaizer Chiefs.

Sundowns sealed their spot in the MTN8 final thanks to goals from a brace from Peter Shalulile on Saturday, but celebrations will have to be cut short as the Brazilians prepare to take on Stellies in the DStv Premiership at  Wednesday at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The Winelands based side will be without star-man Mthethwa following this move to Amakhosi but speaking to the club's media, Zwane insists that Stellies will be just as strong on Wednesday.

"No, I don't think so, if you look the way coach Steve Barker, the way he does things, he always has someone that is very similar to the player that has left," Zwane said.

"He' got a lot of players that can play, that are quick on the ball, that are aggressive on the ball. They are quick and fast, they are aggressive. They are difficult to play against. So, I don't' think they will struggle without him."

Meanwhile, Stellies coach said he was impressed by Sihle Nduli as a replacement for Mthethwa.

"You could see today (Sunday) with players like  Sihle Nduli, who's maybe been playing bridesmaid to Mthethwa as a footballer, a quality footballer himself. The amount of effort he put in, breaking down attacks, was special to see," Barker said on Sunday during his post-match press conference.

"So, it's their time now they need to step up. We can't dwell on that [Mthethwa transfer]. it's over now we need to look forward with the personnel that we have."

Kick-off is at 19:30.
