'It's not like our opponents are running all over us'

Cape Town Spurs center-back Clayton Daniels has promised war against Mamelodi Sundowns when the bottom-placed side take on the defending league champions on Wednesday.

The Premiership table toppers welcome the struggling Cape-based club at Loftus Versfeld Stadium tomorrow evening.

Sundowns are on top of the Premier Soccer League table while Spurs are in position 16. A whopping 27 points separates the two sides.

But Daniels, speaking ahead of the clash, says that will have little impact in tomorrow's game, as football is unpredictable.

"You can expect anything from the game, you can also expect a different team from Sundowns, you can expect a different approach from us," Daniels tells KickOff.

"We all know the characteristics of our coach (Ernst Middendorp), he is very hard working, everyone has to buy him, everyone has to trust the coach is going to come up with a plan. Tomorrow we have to work hard on the plan and execute it properly. Everyday we want to play this kind of team.

"It doesn't matter if it's a Sunday or Monday or Thursday, everyday we want to play teams like Sundowns. Whether it's a friendly match or cup final, we want to play the best every day so we can see what level are we (at).

"There's a lot of lessons in these types of games. You want to test yourself how far are you as a team and as a player. I'm sure our players don't need motivation because Sundowns alone is a motivation to play against. We always perform very well against such teams, and even in the other games, it's not like our opponents are running all over us. We compete against every team we play against.

"Against Sundowns, we have to believe, we have to be positive, I know our situation doesn't help, so everyone needs to be positive. We need to tell ourselves we going to win this game. I'm sure we going to get something out of this game even if it's a point."

The clash gets unnderway at 19:30.
