The KwaZulu-Natal side has since reappointed Fadlu Davids to lead the team as head coach to replace the outgoing John Maduka.
According to sources close to Maritzburg, the club are still in discussions with several players ahead of a possible exit in the January transfer window.
"There are few players that are leaving. The club has engaged their agents and they will release the names of the players once they reach agreements with the respective players," said the source.
Maritzburg has already invited former Orlando Pirates defender, Wayde Jooste for an assessment.
