Ex-Chiefs and SuperSport trialist resurfaces at Maritzburg United

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United trialist Bradley Cross has begun training with Maritzburg United as the centre-back continues his search for a club.

Cross is understood to be under assessment with the KwaZulu-Natal outfit in the hopes of securing a permanent deal. In October, the left-footed centre-back spent several weeks with SuperSport United before trying his luck with Kaizer Chiefs towards the end of September.

The Kempton Park-born 21-year-old previously had stints with German side Schalke's Under 19s before featuring for English side Newcastle United's Reserves. Locally, Cross featured for Bidvest Wits' Reserves in 2018.

If signed, Cross will become the latest name on a list of changes at the Harry Gwala stadium since the arrival of  new head coach Fadlu Davids. The Team of Choice has released over five players in a list that includes Tshidiso Monamodi and Lucky Baloyi among others.

The side has also welcomed some new faces that include former Stellenbosch Captain Rafiq De Goede, former Orlando Pirates midfielder Wayde Jooste and former AmaZulu right-back Kgotso Moleko.

Maritzburg United have conceded a league-high of 21 goals and are stuck at the foot of the DStv Premiership. The Team of Choice will face Marumo Gallants on Saturday at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
