Maritzburg United chairman Farouk Kadodia has explained the reason he took long to replace their former coach, John Maduka.
The Team of Choice sacked the Malawian early in November following a string of poor results.
The KwaZulu-Natal club was in position 16 in the DStv Premiership when Maduka and his entire backroom staff were sacked.

He achieved only one win in his five matches.
United's form has improved since his departure as three points in their next match might move them away from the foot of the log table.
"The plan is to keep on playing the game, keep on fighting to ensure that we survive," Kadodia tells KickOff.
"There will be probably three or four teams we will be fighting; we need to make sure we cover every area.
"If we overcome all that I'm sure we will be all right.
"I think the problem came up because we don't have the habit of changing coaches too early.
"We like to give coaches a fair chance, we started with John Maduka we believed he deserved a fair chance."
Asked if he regrets not having made coaching changes in the technical team while there was still time, Kadodia replied:
"Probably [we should have changed coaches earlier], as many teams do. But obviously, we believed in giving the guy a fair chance.
"We believe in giving coaches a chance to at least maybe until the halfway mark.
"If we were completely out of the contention maybe we would have changed the coach earlier.
"The fact that we didn't do it earlier maybe was a bit of a setback.
"I won't say it was a mistake because it was the beginning of the season.
Maduka was the right person, I think he tried his best, and that was what it is."
