Malesela's absence explained after defeat in Cape Town

Coach Dan Malesela's job at Marumo Gallants is safe for now, according to the senior officials at the club.

Malesela was on the bench during Thursday's Betway Premiership 1-0 loss against Stellenbosch FC in Cape Town.

Gallants have only won one match and are currently 14th spot on the league table after playing six games so far in the league this season.

The team will travel to Polokwane for their next league match against SuperSport United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on 23 November.

Duncan Lechesa sat on the bench in Malesela's absence during Thursday's match against Stellies and according to club officials at Gallants, the former Orlando Pirates captain was given a day off due to health reasons.

"Dan Dance  Malesela is still our head coach. He traveled with the team for the match against Stellenbosch and, unfortunately, got ill and hence was not on the bench,"  said the senior official at Gallants.
