PSL coach denies interest in Pirates' forgotten man

Marumo Gallants FC head coach Dan Malesela has denied reported interest in forgotten Orlando Pirates winger Katlego Otladisa, who has not been part of the matchday squad in all five of the side's matches so far this season.

According to the rumour mill, Siwelele Sa Marumo are engaged in negotiations for a deal with Pirates for exciting winger Katlego Otladisa.

The player has not enjoyed much game-time at the club under head coach Jose Riveiro since joined from Gallants in July last year.

He made only 10 appearances in all competitions in the 2023/24 season, which was his first at the Soweto giants, providing zero goals and zero assists in the process.

Before Bucs and Gallants, Otladisa used to be on the books of Platinum Stars and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Reports have it that the Bloemfontein-based outfit is interested in signing the 27-year-old on a season-long loan deal.

When contacted by this website, Malesela said they have more than enough wingers to see them through the season.

"No, no, no, that's not true. No," Malesela emphatically tells KickOff.

"We've got too many wingers. That's why we're not interested."

Meanwhile, Bloemfontein Celtic owner Max Tshabalala has refused to sell the club's name to Gallants president Abram Sello.

In a meeting he held with the NEC, Tshabalala made it clear that his team, Bloemfontein Celtic, will be playing in the ABC Motsepe League.

Therefore, the name is not for sale.

Gallants will open their 2024/25 Betway Premiership season with a home fixture against Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

Kick-off at the Free State Stadium is 17:30.
