Another transfer ban loading for PSL club?

Another PSL club could be flirting with a FIFA transfer ban, should they not heed the League's DRC ruling, KickOff has established.

In discrepancies of non-payment to former players, two PSL clubs - TS Galaxy and Royal AM - have so far faced transfer bans this  season, although the Rockets' registration embargo was eventually lifted just before the start of the campaign.

This was after Ivorian striker Bernard Yao Kouassi took the Mpumalanga side to FIFA for an alleged breach of contract.

Galaxy heeded an order from FIFA to pay Kouassi R1.8 million, who was allegedly signed by the club in the January transfer window but could not play after his clearance was not secured from his former club in India.

In a litigation that has been ongoing since 2022, Royal AM have also lost a bitter legal battle with Samir Nurkovic, whose alleged unlawful termination of contract already attracted a FIFA ban from last year.

The KwaZulu-Natal outfit have now been ordered to pay the striker amounts in excess of R10 million, after they lost their appeal case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Another non-payment case was heard in the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) offices this week, where at least 11 players claimed Marumo Gallants owed them bonus monies after they reached the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals in 2022/23.

It is understood the number of ex-Gallants players who allege to be owed bonus monies is even more than 11, as the League's DRC ruled in their favour and ordered the side to settle their debt with the contingent of ex- club players.

After bagging approximately R13,2 million for reaching the Confed Cup semi-finals, this website has been led to believe the initial agreement with the players was that they would receive 30 percent of the prize money.

That means Siwelele Sa Marumo may need to cough out around R4 million to pay a bevy of players, with each player anticipating to get around R124 000.

Gallants have been disputing and refusing to pay the players since last year, before the matter finally sat before the PSL's DRC.

This publication has been reliably informed that after the DRC ruling, the PSL has the powers to put a transfer ban in place for Marumo, should they not pay the players the monies owed.

However, the League can also deduct the money from the monthly grant the club gets for participating in the Betway Premiership (R2,5 million), after, ironically, they debited Bloemfontein Celtic R3 million for a non-payment debt owed to ex-goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb three years ago.

This followed Celtic's transfer ban by FIFA.
