Ajax Cape Town have turned to a former Orlando Pirates defender to aid their push for Absa Premiership promotion as the season nears its climax.
Ajax are nine games away from returning to the South African top flight as they occupy top spot in the GladAfrica Championship, with 42 points after 21 games.
The Urban Warriors, who had an ugly divorce from both their coach Andries Ulderink and technical director Hans Vonk, have bolstered their squad with veteran defender Rooi Mahamutsa.
Mahamutsa had been clubless since June 2018 after leaving Free State Stars upon the end of his contract, and was off the local football radar.
However, he has finally put an end to speculation on whether he has retired or not, with the 38-year-old having penned a short-term deal until the end of the season.
The former tough-tackling Pirates star, who spent eight seasons with the Soweto giants, has since reflected on his move to the Mother City outfit and has made a passionate pledge to the club's supporters.

"The world works in a strange way; I've always admired Ajax as a club and as a brand for many years," Mahamutsa said on his new club's website.
"At my age you wouldn't think that I would have the honour of working with the best academy in Africa but here I am.
"To the Ajax faithful, I am looking forward to wearing your treasured red and white kit and I will fight for this [GAC] title as if I came through your academy."
