Ajax Cape Town coach Andries Ulderink resigns

Ajax Cape Town head coach Andries Ulderink has resigned with immediate effect.

The GladAfrica Championship club has announced the Dutchman's departure on its official channels.

The Urban Warriors indiciated earlier this week that Ulderink would be leaving the club upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season.

"Andries Ulderink will write his name on Ajax Cape Town's history should he lead the team in winning the GladAfrica Championship," read a statement on Monday.

"In addition he will be the only Dutch coach to ever lift any silverware at Ajax Cape Town.

"He sacrificed 18 months of his career to assist Ajax Cape Town fight their way out the NFD. Being away from his family, and campaigning in a notoriously difficult league has been no easy task.

"He is a true professional and we have no doubt in his commitment to finish the season as champions."

However, that has since changed, with Ulderink leaving right in the middle of the team's campaign to win promotion back to the Absa Premiership.

Ajax have a two-point lead and a game in hand over Uthongathi FC at the top of the NFD table, with 11 matches remaining.
