Ajax Cape Town release Sedwyn George, eyeing Menzi Ndwandwe and Celimpilo Ngema of Uthongathi FC, who have signed Sandile Zuke

Head coach of Uthongathi FC Johnny Ferreira says former Absa Premiership side Ajax Cape Town are interested in two of his players.

Centre-forward Menzi Ndwandwe and attacking midfielder Celimpilo Ngema are said to have attracted interest from the Urban Warriors.

"From the NFD side Ajax Cape Town are desperate to get Ndwandwe and Ngema hey," he tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"Ja those are two very, very good players and Ajax showed, Ajax wanted them in the last transfer window so I'm sure that they still want them.

"But it's all negotiations and it's all between the two clubs. Like anything in life there's a price, and if you are prepared to pay the price you can get your subject or your object."

Ferreira was asked if there was a possibility of the two players leaving in the current transfer window.

"No, I'm sure it will only happen at the end of the season, I don't think that our club is prepared to see or let two of their best players leave the club right now," he says.

"There's always interest from the PSL clubs as well. Sometimes they blow hot, and two weeks or so they blow cold and they lose interest. But there's always PSL clubs showing interest in teams that are near the top of the NFD.

"Where else are they going to get players for PSL? Academy? Academy players are too inexperienced at PSL level, most of them.

"I know some of them are coming through the system at [Mamelodi] Sundowns, Bidvest Wits now, at SuperSport [United]. There's one or two boys coming through the system.

"But other than that where else can you get players from but NFD? Ja so there's always an interest from PSL clubs. But as I say, today they like Johnny Ferreira and next week they don't like Johnny Ferreira they rather like Pitso Mosimane. That's how they operate.

"We are just focused on staying in the top three to either make promotion or the playoffs. That's our focus."

Ajax media officer Shoes Mekuto denied Ferreira's claims.

"Uthongathi are busy neh. Not at all [we are not interested]," he said.

The Urban Warriors have also released striker Sedwyn George.

Meanwhile, as reported back in December, Ferreira also confirmed that Sandile Zuke completed his move to Uthongathi and has already played three games.
