The Cane Cutters have drawn an incredible 10 league matches in a row and have not picked up three points since January 19.
Now as they face third-placed TTM, a win would give fourth-placed Uthongathi a huge advantage going into the final round of matches on Sunday.
TTM have 45 points to Uthongathi's 44 ahead of a massive GladAfrica Championship clash at Sturrock Park (15h00).
"Today's game is the most important one for us this season. If we lose or draw our playoff dreams are shattered, it will be over for us," club official Nkosinathi Chili tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"We must also admit we've already let ourselves down by not achieving our objective of reaching 52 points. We've improved but there won't be nothing to show off if we lose today," he says.
"We have to make sure we don't disappoint our supporters and the whole KZN after the way we started the season. But with that said, things like this happen.
"I think we were not lethal up front. We missed so many chances even though we had good season."
Chili admits the club has let itself and the supporters down after starting the season well under Johnny Ferreira, but says they don't have any regrets about firing the coach.
"We don't have any regrets," he insists. "We had to let go of the coach because the problem was getting results. Unfortunately it's still [not] happening but we can't be making excuses, we let ourselves down."
Ironically, Ferreira will be in charge at TTM next season when the NFD franchise changes its name to Sekhukhune United.
