The lanky forward finished last season at Ajax Cape Town, which is now Cape Town Spurs after Ajax Amsterdam sold all their shares back to Ari Efstathiou.
According to reliable sources, the 35-year-old has earned himself a one-year deal at Umoya after netting nine goals in the GladAfrica Championship last season.
The evergreen centre-forward led the Urban Warriors' charge in the promotion playoffs but was released after the club failed to overcome Black Leopards at the last hurdle.
Both Rodgers and Cape Umoya boss Roger de Sa could not be reached for comment.
