This website has been reliably informed that the former Highlands Park, SuperSport United and Platinum Stars midfielder has been training with the new NFD team since Tuesday.
Limpopo-based African All Stars have bought Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila's status and will be called Sekhukhune United in the first division next season.
The 31-year-old was recently involved in a friendly match organised by the South African Football Players' Union.
"Mkhabela has been training with Sekhukhune for a week now and yesterday [Saturday] he was playing in a friendly against a SAFPU team in Tsakane," a source tells snl24.com/kickoff.
Another source says the Mpumalanga-born player has actually joined the club.
"They've signed him last week, he is part of the team moving forward now," the second source says.
Sekhukhune coach Johnny Ferreira confirms having the player in his team but says a deal to sign him hasn't been completed.
"Yes, he's been training with us but the decision about his future will be discussed with the chairman, then we will see, because he is not the only one," Ferreira says.
Mkhabela made his name at Platinum Stars before being signed by Chiefs, where he was unable to break into then-coach Steve Komphela's side. He recently left Highlands Park, which has now been sold to TS Galaxy.
