Jomo Sono explains how Jomo Cosmos survived relegation

Ezenkosi entered the bio-bubble in the bottom-two slots in the standings, but managed to beat the drop after picking up 11 points from their final six matches.

Sono says releasing Themba Tshabalala and bringing in new players was key to his side's form in the bio-bubble.

"It was a good season, I think the bubble also worked out very well. The chairman and his executive must be complimented for that," Sono tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"We were ready, and I think also before we went to this, we had to get rid of people like Themba Tshabalala. But it shows that we human, we make mistakes like everybody else. We released players like him and we brought in young boys you know.

"You know I brought in a young boy from Rustenburg in the centre-half position and he did well. We brought in a goalkeeper, and the goalkeeper did well. We made changes in the centre-half position because that's where we were getting killed in the centre-half position.

"We were leaking goals like crazy you know, especially late during the game where you would find that our defence is getting tired because of the age as well. But we were surprised with Angelo, he played like a superstar in the bubble."

Asked if the plan for next season was to gain promotion to the PSL, he said: "No. I'm planning to compete."
